We are proud to host the 5th International Symposium on Photopharmacology in France in 2026. The first symposium took place in Groningen in 2017, then the second edition was in Barcelona in 2018, followed by New York (by Zoom) in 2021 and Honk Kong in 2023. This new edition will be held in the beautiful town of Sète, just a few kilometers from Montpellier, on the shores of the Mediterranean.
It will be held from April 8 to April 10, 2026.
Looking forward to seeing all of you in the south of France next spring!
Symposium theme
Photopharmacology aims to use light-sensitive compounds in combination with light irradiation to control their structures and functions in space and time. This property enables the use of light as an external control for therapeutic applications and basic research tools. Photopharmacology is a multidisciplinary field that integrates chemistry, biology and pharmacology and has developed rapidly in recent years. However, there are still problems to be solved before this strategy can reach clinical applications. Therefore, the 5th International Symposium on Photopharmacology aims to bring together world experts in photopharmacology to present, discuss and collaborate in their respective fields.
